Electromagnetic Fields and Waves: Microwave and mmWave Engineering with Generalized Macroscopic Electrodynamics: Textbooks in Telecommunication Engineering

This textbook is intended for a course in electromagnetism for upper undergraduate and graduate students. The main concepts and laws of classical macroscopic electrodynamics and initial information about generalized laws of modern electromagnetics are discussed, explaining some paradoxes of the modern theory. The reader then gets acquainted with electrodynamics methods of field analysis on the basis of wave equation solution. Emission physics are considered using an example of the Huygens-Fresnel-Kirchhoff canonic principle. The representation about strict electrodynamics task statement on the base of Maxwell equations, boundary conditions, emission conditions and the condition on the edge is given. Different classes of approximate boundary conditions are presented, which essentially simplify understanding of process physics. The canonic Fresnel functions are given and their generalization on the case of anisotropic impedance. The free waves in closed waveguides and in strip-slotted and edge-dielectric transmission lines are described. 
A large number of Mathcad programs for illustration of field patterns and its properties in different guiding structures are provided. The material is organized for self-study as well as classroom use.

Eugeny I. NEFYODOV, Dr. Sci. (Phys-math), professor, Chief Researcher of Institute of Radio Engineering and Electronics os RAS, professor on Moscow State University of Radio Engineering, Electronics and Automatics). Graduated in 1956 from Military Communication Academy (Leningrad). PhD (phys-math) from 1965, Dr-Sci. (physmath) from 1975. Author of more than 260 publications, 33 books and textbooks, about 50 patents. Delivered lecture courses for students “Engineering Electrodynamics”, “Radio Engineering Circuits and Signals”. Honor Professor of Euro-Asian university (Kazakhstan), Honor Radio Engineer of USSR, Honor Radio Engineer of Russia. Chief Editor of the journal “Electrodynamics and SHF, mm-wave, and Optical Engineering”. Member of Editorial Board of journals “Automation and Modern Technologies”, “ Physics of Wave Processes and Radio Engineering Systems”, “Bulletin of New Medicine Technologies”. Active member of Academy of Engineering Sciences, Academy of Military Sciences, Academy of Mtdical-Engineering Sciences, New-York Academy of Sciences, International Academy of Informatization. Has a diploma “Man of the Year 1997”.  
Sergey M. SMOLSKIY, Ph.D. in Engineering, Dr.Sc. in Engineering, full professor, Head of the Department of Radio Receivers of Moscow Power Engineering Institute (Technical University). He works at Radio Engineering Faculty of MPEI from 1969 just after graduation. After graduation of Ph.D. course and protection of Ph.D. thesis in 1974 he worked at the Department of Radio Transmitting Devices of MPEI, where he engaged in theoretical and practical problems of development of transmitting cascades of low distance radar. In 1993 he defended the Doctor of Science thesis and now he works as a Head of RR Dept. and as a Vice-Rector of MPEI responsible for international relations. Academic experience - over twenty years. Lecturer on the following courses: "Radio Transmitting Devices", "Devices of generation and control of oscillations of UHF and optical ranges", "Theory of oscillations in Radio Engineering", "Methods of analysis of non-linear radio and electronic systems", "Method of phase plane for analysis non-linear radio devices". The list of his scientific works and inventions contains about three hundred of scientific articles, twelve books, three USSR copyright certificates on invention, 76 technological reports on various conferences, including international ones. Active member of International Academy of informatization, International Academy of Electrotechnical Sciences, International Academy of Sciences of Higher Educational Institutions. Active member of IEEE. Honorary doctor of three foreign universities. His scientific work for the latter five years is connected with conversion directions of low distance radar systems, radio measuring systems for fuel and energy complex, telecommunications, radio monitoring, nonlinear dynamics, chaotic signals, and electrodynamics.
