Notă biografică
Aleksandr YurievichBrailov is a Professor in the Department of Descriptive Geometry and Drawing atthe Odessa Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture since 2008.
He began hisengineering career in 1974 when he became a first-year student of the OdessaNational Polytechnic University. After graduating, in 1979, with a Master ofEngineering, with Distinction, he was employed as a research engineer at theOdessa National Polytechnic University.
Dr. Brailovsubsequently read for a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree at the OdessaNational Polytechnic University in the field of manufacturing engineering, focusing primarily on the geometry of cutting tools under the supervision ofProfessor Yuri Sukhorukov. Later on, to enhance his mathematical acumen, hecompleted the Bachelor and Master programs at the Institute of Mathematics,Economy and Mechanics of the Odessa I.I. Mechnikov National University in 1996.
After completion ofhisPh.D., Dr. Brailov was employed by the Odessa National PolytechnicUniversity as a Senior Research Fellow, Associate Professor, and Professor within the Departments of Metal Cutting and CuttingTools, Descriptive Geometry and Graphics, Computer Designing Technologies.
Professor Brailov is amember of the Ukrainian Association on Applied Geometry, since 2000, and a member of theInternational Society of Geometry and Graphics, since 1998.
His research interestsinclude areas of geometrical modeling ofengineering objects and systems, engineering geometry, mechanical design, computer aided design, engineeringcomputer graphics and computer design of tools.
The author of 155 scientific and methodical works—including 128 scientific and technical articles, three copyrightcertificates on inventions, two patents, three textbooks, seven manuals, and 12teaching-methodical works—Dr. Brailov has also presented the resultsof his research at technical conferences around the world.

Textul de pe ultima copertă
This professional treatise on engineering graphicsemphasizes engineering geometry as the theoretical foundation for communicationof design ideas with real world structures and products. It considers eachtheoretical notion of engineering geometry as a complex solution of direct- andinverse-problems of descriptive geometry and each solution of basic engineeringproblems presented is accompanied by construction of biunique two- andthree-dimension models of geometrical images. The book explains the universalstructure of formal algorithms of the solutions of positional, metric, andaxonometric problems, as well as the solutions of problems of construction indeveloping a curvilinear surface. The book further characterizes and explainsthe added laws of projective connections to facilitate construction ofgeometrical images in any of eight octants. Laws of projective connectionsallow constructing the complex drawing of a geometrical image in the Americansystem of measurement and theEuropean system of measurement without errors andmistakes. The arrangement of projections of a geometrical image on the complexdrawing corresponds to an arrangement of views of a product in the projectivedrawing for the European system of measurement. The volume is ideal forengineers working on a range of design projects as well as for students ofcivil, structural, and industrial engineering and engineering design.
