De Cartago a Sagunto is the fifth novel of the fifth and final series of Episodios Nacionales by Benito P rez Gald s. After the Rebellion of Cartegena the action heads to Madrid, where political tensions threaten to bring down Castelar's government. It is 1874 and the Third Carlist War begins anew, and the narrator fears for his nation. Once more the author employs a female character of extremes to represent the changing state of Spanish society.
