At 17 he joined the Merchant Navy and travelled extensively while working as a cook. The rest of his life has included - Editorship of several Leisure magazines, running his own business, and selling advertising. Ian has lived in many areas of Britain, from Devon to the highlands of Scotland, including a spell in London (with his wife and daughter) as a homeless family.
