Recenzii
'Catherine Parisian's publishing history of Cecilia is an invaluable resource for the study and teaching of Frances Burney's most important novel. Parisian's history is an extraordinary work of scholarship, the sort of book a scholar might be expected to produce at the end of a lifetime of study. More is known about the writing, printing, illustrating, distribution, and critical reception of Cecilia than perhaps any other book in the late eighteenth century, making it a key text for the discipline of book history in this period, and Parisian is our vade mecum to the history of that book.'
- Geoffrey Sill, Rutgers University-Camden, USA
'Frances Burney’s Cecilia: A Publishing History is a brilliantly executed study that will be essential for scholars of book history as well as those of Frances Burney.'
- SHARP News
'... there is a sense that Burney’s work is important as much for its emblematic significance as for itself... offer[s] much specifically to Burney scholars, [and] also undoubtedly merit attention from the wider academic community in eighteenth-century and Romantic studies.'
- BARS Bulletin
"Parisian presents her extensive research with precision, using diagrams and tables to organize and clarify her findings. As such, this publishing history proves an essential resource for Burney scholars, as well as for bibliographers and book historians... Parisian’s Frances Burney’s "Cecilia" serves as a model for future publishing histories."
