Friedrich Schiller’s treatise On the Aesthetic Education of Man in a Series of Letters (1795) is among the most influential theoretical works on beauty and art of his era. In these “scholarly letters,” Schiller lays claim to the legitimacy of art during times of revolutionary upheaval in Europe and also conveys the aesthetic philosophy of his contemporaries, including Kant, Reinhold, and Fichte.
