The emergence of gentrification phenomenon as a `global urban strategy' has been topical over the past two decades and it is reported in literature that the process is visible in almost all the major cities in the world. However, it is worth mentioning that most literature on gentrification are focused on the developed countries. In Africa, there exist limited literature on gentrification and it is fair to indicate that generally, a comprehensive study on gentrification and urbanization is rare in Ghana. This book therefore provides the relevance of gentrification in the urbanization process in Ghana using Wa as a case study. Wa, is the capital city of the Upper West Region and one of the fast urbanizing cities in Ghana. The analysis in this book therefore reveals the relevance of gentrification in the forms, causes and effects of the changes that are unfolding in the Central Business District of Wa.
