Happy Birthday, Beth

en Limba Engleză Paperback
"As God is my witness, I'll never go hungry again " vowed Scarlet O'Hara in Margaret Mitchell's Gone With The Wind. Elizabeth Benson's vow to leave behind the poverty-stricken life of her childhood on the banks of the Tennessee River is just as strong. The year is 1946, and Elizabeth is born. At the age of ten, tragedy strikes and forces her family to leave the river and start a new life in the city, a world completely unknown to her. Beth's story continues throughout the tremulous years of the early sixties. These are the years of unrest with Russia, the assassination of President Kennedy, and the Civil Rights Movement. These events and her determination to make a better life for herself result in a life-changing decision that lays the foundation for her future. However, the method she chooses has everlasting repercussions.

Notă biografică

L.B. Brady is a southern woman, born and raised in northern Alabama in the late 1940s. Like most women in the sixties, she married shortly after high school and began raising her family. Four children later, when her youngest started kindergarten in 1989, L.B. Brady began working on a project. Little did she know this project would turn into the "Happy Birthday, Beth" series and span across the next 25+ years. She began writing and had almost finished one complete book, but life became busy and the book was put aside. After sitting on a shelf collecting dust for the better part of a decade, she decided to get it out and continue working. Shortly thereafter, the one book became two, then three, and now she is currently writing number four. Her large family, strong southern roots, and a lifetime of stories and influences from growing up in the South yields an abundance of creativity that is evident in her writing.
