Hazardous Air Pollutant Handbook: Measurements, Properties, and Fate in Ambient Air

Autor Chester W. Spicer, Sydney M. Gordon, Thomas J. Kelly, Michael W. Holdren, R. Mukund
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 16 apr 2002
Hazardous Air Pollutant Handbook: Measurements, Properties, and Fate in Ambient Air provides a comprehensive review of the 188 compounds and compound classes designated as Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs) by the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990, with a specific focus on their potential presence in ambient air. The relevant chemical and physical properties of the compounds are discussed and tabulated, and suitable methods for their measurement in ambient air are identified. A survey of measurements of ambient HAP concentrations is provided for use in historical comparisons and for evaluating the current human health risks from these chemicals. Finally, the book reviews the atmospheric reactions that control the lifetime and fate of the HAPs in ambient air, and summarizes the current knowledge about their transformation products.

Recenzii

"The book will indeed serve the needs of a broad range of professionals responsible for emission monitoring, risk assessment, and permitting and compliance duties."
G.F. Bennett, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Vol. 96, January 2003

"The authors provide a succinct summary of the history of the development of the HAP list. Hazardous Air Pollutant Handbook: Measurements, Properties, and Fate in Ambient Air is a concise, easy to use, ready-reference text. This book would be a valuable addition to libraries with collections in the environmental and atmospheric sciences, and would be a useful tool for environmental regulators and consultants."
