Hebrews: A Guide

Autor Andrew Lincoln
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 19 apr 2006
Hebrews: A Guide sheds light on an important, but often overlooked, New Testament book. In this highly accessible introductory guide, Lincoln aims to provide a broad appreciation of the setting, background, argument, and overall thought of Hebrews. Lincoln argues that the controversy surrounding Hebrews, and the question of whether or not one should consider it an apostolical text, has resulted in its being the object of relative neglect in biblical scholarship. He maintains that if the reader puts the issue of authorship to one side, they will find that its writer is not only the most elegant stylist among the New Testament writers but also a first-class theologian and pastor in his own right, whose message continues to speak effectively to Christians today.

Recenzii

"A readable and succinct volume, ideal for university or seminary students."   Michael Bird JSNTS Booklist, 2007
Reviewed in Religious Studies Review, Vol. 36, No. 2, June 2010 (UK) 'This excellent guide to Hebrews is so economically written that it contains an immense amount of useful information for anyone interested in getting an overview of Hebrews'
"...it is ideally suited as a college or seminary text, or as a companion to an individual's first serious study of the Book of Hebrews. Lincoln engages contemporary scholarship without becoming mired in arcane discussions; he identifies the major positions on significant issues and reaches his own judicious and carefully argued conclusions; he makes selective use of social-historical insights while being careful to avoid forcing the text into preconceived social-scientific grids. And he is careful to always begin and end with a faithful reading of the text." -Interpretation
