Have you ever had a paper cut? You ever wondered, How can a cut that's hardly visible be the cause of so much pain? Just like a paper cut, I suffered from pain that was not visible. Yet, inside I hurt so much. No one really knew how badly I was suffering. I covered my pain just like how we cover our paper cuts- with a bandaid. I was sexually assaulted at the age of eighteen. I felt like I was being held prisoner in my own body. Are you a victim of sexual assault? Do you feel trapped behind your paper cut? Nikki G. was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A year after graduating from college, she picked up and moved to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams. Nikki never dreamed of writing books even though when she was younger she would write short stories. Instead, she dreamed of writing scripts for plays, television, and films as well as acting and performing in them. It was not until Nikki had something very unfortunate happen to her that she wrote her first book, How to Heal a Paper Cut, at age twenty-two. Along the way, Nikki has created an organization, S.H.E Inspiration, to fight against sexual violence and to empower young women every day.
