This book constitutes revised selected papers from the 6th International Conference on Information Systems, Logistics, and Supply Chains, ILS 2016, held in Bordeaux, France, in June 2016. The conference deals with topics related to supply chain design and management, information and decision-making systems, and innovative practices in logistics. It also encompasses issues such as sustainability, societal impact, uncertainty, and collaboration in supply chain management.

The 13 full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in this volume and reflect the diverse challenges and opportunities experienced in logistics, information and supply chain management. They were organized in topical sections named: transportation and logistics; supply chain planning; collaboration and operations in supply chain; and applications of supply chain topics to business environments (case studies).

Notă biografică

Prof. Dr. Cecilia Temponi is a Full Professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management at Texas State University, San Marcos, Texas. She has over ten years of national and international industry experience in several sectors of the economy - including oil, software, and consulting - and at various levels of management. She has a BS in Chemical Engineering from “La Universidad del Zulia”, Venezuela; a MS in Industrial Engineering from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; an MBA from St. Mary’s University, Texas; and a PhD in Industrial Engineering – emphasis Operations Management/Supply Chain from The University of Texas.

Her research experience, interests and major contributions are in Enterprise Modeling of Manufacturing and Business Processes (Quantitative and Qualitative), Sustainability and Risk in Supply Chain Management, and Quality - - continuous improvement models for industrial and academic organizations. Her publications have appeared in journals such as European Journal of Operational Research, International Journal of Production Economics, Journal of Quality Assurance, Decision Sciences, IEEE Transactions, and other such journals. She is an active member in professional organizations such as the Academy of Management, IEEE, I4E2 and ILS, where she is one of the members of the Permanent Advisory Board. Cross-disciplinary and international academic collaborations is one of her main strengths. She has been an Associate Editor as well as a Guest Editor for several high-quality international journals.


Prof. Dr. Nico Vandaele holds a degree Commercial Engineering (1990) and obtained a PhD in Applied Economics, Operations Research and Operations Management from KU Leuven in 1996. He is currently Full Professor Operations Management at the KU Leuven, Faculty of Business and Economics. He is holder of the GSK Research Chair on Access-to-Medicines and a research member of the Research Center of Operations Management. Nico Vandaele teaches courses in operations research, operations management and supply chain management.

His research interests are situated in supply chain design, modeling of manufacturing and service systems, performance measurement, the design of planning systems, sales and operations management, factory physics, health care management and traffic modeling. Another research deals with decision support systems for product design and development and portfolio management. He is co-founder Xathlon, a KU Leuven spin-off company and he was executive director of a university Innovation and Incubation Center.
