Recenzii
"This radiant treatise is an absolutely essential contribution to contemporary foundational literature on psychotherapy unification and to significant directions of evolution that are taking shape in psychotherapy integration. Marquis’s unifying system of psychotherapy is sophisticatedly comprehensive in conceptual composition and scope, boundless in implications for psychotherapeutic practice, and liberatingly potent in ramifications for clinical research. His unifying formulations have the potential to be transformative. Whether you are a psychotherapy theorist, practitioner, researcher, and/or trainer, you will find much to chew on in this remarkable volume; enjoy the feast—it is a cornucopia of riches."
Jack Anchin, PhD, clinical associate professor, Department of Counseling and Clinical Psychology, Medaille College and University at Buffalo, State University of New York
"It is time for a paradigm shift in counseling and psychotherapy. Andre Marquis has more than met the challenge with his brilliant Integral Psychotherapy. He does a fine job with traditional theory and shows us how to integrate this with modern work in developmental theory and neuroscience. I commend this book as we move to a new era in the helping professions."
Allen E. Ivey, EdD, ABPP, distinguished university professor (emeritus), University of Massachusetts, Amherst
"Andre Marquis’s latest volume, Integral Psychotherapy, provides a pivot point for psychotherapeutics and clinical science. Introducing the reader to a new paradigm based on integral psychotherapy, Marquis systematically walks readers through the evolution of psychotherapy toward his unifying framework for conceptualizing and treating psychological disorders. Marquis convincingly draws from converging sources to portray a metatheoretical framework that is conceptually clear and offers unparalleled clinical utility for practicing clinicians. This volume is a must read for all mental health professionals."
Jeffrey Magnavita, PhD, ABPP, CEO and founder of Strategic Psychotherapeutics ™, LLC, past president of The Society for the Advancement of Psychotherapy (2010)
"This is a book that will stimulate even readers who may, like me, have questions about the sharp distinction drawn between integrative and unified approaches or the level of abstraction at which the metatheoretical project pitches its efforts. Marquis offers us a comprehensive and scholarly exploration of the issues, with relevance for research, theory, and clinical practice. This book is an important contribution to the literature of unified psychotherapy."
Paul L. Wachtel, PhD, distinguished professor, City College of New York and CUNY Graduate Center
"Marquis’s distinctive integral psychotherapy creatively and coherently integrates many approaches that span the gamut from empirically supported and time honored to postmodern, from experiential psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral to existential and developmental constructivist. However, at the core of his approach are person-centered empathy, genuineness, positive regard, and compassion. The principles Marquis elaborates—for example, the importance of balancing support and challenge—are immensely practical, not only to beginning mental health professionals but also to seasoned therapists."
Howard Kirschenbaum, EdD, professor emeritus and former chair, Department of Counseling and Human Development, Warner Graduate School, University of Rochester, author ofThe Life and Work of Carl Rogers
"Andre Marquis’s Integral Psychotherapy clearly evidences a prodigious amount of work undertaken to move the field of psychotherapy closer toward a comprehensive, if not yet unified, perspective. Dr. Marquis’s use of the AQAL model is a unique advance in assessment with its emphasis on internal and external views of both individual and systems dimensions. Integral Psychotherapy builds another promising rung on the ladder toward a unified perspective on psychotherapy."
