Dr Karina Torralba
Dr Karina Torralba is Professor of Medicine at Loma Linda University (LLU) School of Medicine, and at University of California-Riverside. As of May 2024, after completion of the writing of this book, she joined Amgen as a Global Development-Clinical Research Medical Director in Inflammation. She obtained a Masters in Academic Medicine (Medical Education) from the Keck School of Medicine of University of Southern California in 2012. She was the lead Clinical Trialist for the LLU Division of Rheumatology where She was Chief (2015-2022) and Fellowship Program Director (2014-2021) for the Division of Rheumatology at Loma Linda University (LLU), in Loma Linda, California, USA. At LLU Medical Center, she served as the Director of Rheumatology Clinical Trials, Co-Director of the Ambulatory Infusion Center, and Director of the Fracture Liaison Service. She is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Society. She was Board President of the Board of the Ultrasound School of North American Rheumatologists (USSONAR) from 2021-2023, and of the Southern California Rheumatology Society (2022-2023). She received the Clinician Scholar Educator Award (2008-2011) from the Rheumatology Research Foundation. She is an active member of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) and has chaired the ACR Basic and Advanced Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Courses (January 2023-May 2024, January-December 2019). She is an editor and reviewer for many journals. She is a member of the subgroups of Lupus, Large Vessel Vasculitis and Autoimmune Interstitial Lung Disease ultrasound subgroups for the Outcome Measures in Rheumatoid Arthritis (OMERACT) and was co-lead for the Lupus Ultrasound subgroup. She has authored many publications in clinical, translational, quality-of-life, quality improvement and educational research. She is also known for her work on psychological safety in clinical medicine.
Dr Duvuru Geetha
Dr Geetha is a Professor of Clinical medicine in the division of nephrology and rheumatology. A graduate of Madras Medical College, India, she completed Internal Medi- cine training in U.K. She did her Internal Medicine Residency at York, PA and Nephrology fellowship at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. She has been on Hopkins faculty since 1998. She is a member of Royal College of Physicians (U.K.), American Society of Nephrology and International Society of Nephrology. Dr Geetha serves on the post graduate committee of the American Society of Nephrology and a consultant for the vasculitis foundation. She is a member of the Miller Coulson Academy of Clinical Excellence at Hop- kins. Her clinical interests include renal disease in vasculitis patients with a focus on ANCA associated vasculitis and Henoch-Schoenlein Purpura, also called IgA vasculitis. She does clinical and translational research in vasculitis, with a focus on ANCA associated vasculitis and renal disease. Dr Geetha participates in multi-center clinical trials in vasculitis and other glomerular diseases.
Dr Anisha B. Dua
Anisha B. Dua MD, MPH is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology, Rheumatology Fellowship Program Director and Director of the Northwestern Vasculitis Center at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
Her interests are in rheumatology education and vasculitis. She has completed fellowships in Rheumatology at Rush, Medical Education at The University of Chicago, and Integrative Medicine at Northwestern.
Dr. Dua currently leads a multidisciplinary team in the clinical management of vasculitis patients. She assisted in the development of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) Guideline for the Treatment and Management of Vasculitis, is on the Board of Directors for the Vasculitis Foundation, and is a recipient of the Clinical Scholar Educator award from the Rheumatology Research Foundation. She has served in multiple leadership roles both locally and nationally through the American College of Rheumatology, the Vasculitis Foundation, and the ACGME in the areas of education as well as vasculitis.
