Introduction to Chemistry and the Environment
Autor Baldwin Kingen Limba Engleză Paperback – mar 2002
The text consists of ten brief chapters. The first five chapters discuss chemical principles in a succinct but scientifically sound manner. The individual instructor is encouraged to elaborate on these topics as he or she sees fit. The next two chapters discuss the properties of gases, especially the components of air, and then issues in air pollution. The next two chapters focus on the properties of water and aqueous solutions followed by issues in water pollution. The final brief chapter is an attempt to put everything in perspective by discussing human health and the environment. Included at the end of each chapter are some suggested readings for those who would like a more detailed discussion of the topics covered. A set of discussion-type questions ends each chapter.
Writing science for nonscientists is a difficult task. However, Baldwin King has used his many years as a chemical educator to produce a text which is clear and eminently readable by non-chemists.
