It's Ok to Tell My Story!

Autor Wilder, Gwendolen
en Limba Engleză Paperback

"I love you, but I don't want to die for you."

That was Gionnolen's mantra for surviving domestic violence. Similar to thousands of other domestic violence victims, the successful business owner, retired military veteran, and college graduate Gionnolen felt the psychological, emotional, financial, and psychical abuse she endured from her ex-common-law husband was her fault. The continuous betrayals, lack of affection, cruel words, and violent outbursts Gionnolen endured at the hands of her abuser during their eight-year relationship made her question her sanity and self-worth, and she felt more hopeless and alone as each day passed.

Finally, Gionnolen realized enough was enough when her ex decided to return home one early morning after being gone all night; he had the most ridiculous excuse, a total disregard, and a lack of disrespect. She knew he'd cheated on her again, but as so many women do, she wanted the closure of him admitting to the deed. As a result, Gionnolen prayed to God for strength to do what had to be done to leave and never return to that man, because she knew she deserved better. After her last physical attack, Gionnolen began the strenuous and tiring process of repairing what had been destroyed. She knew the abuse did not happen overnight and that healing would take time. Gionnolen was determined to take her control back from her abuser and regain her strength by re-learning who she was, and she continued to love herself through the trials while striving to reach inner peace.

IT'S OK TO TELL MY STORY is written with passion, heart, and an unbelievable sense of sadness, which outline Gwendolen's personal experience with common-law domestic violence abuse viewed through the eyes of the main character, Gionnolen. This book demonstrates how God's love and strength, domestic violence therapy, and the support of friends and family enabled Gionnolen to break the cycle of abuse, obtain control of her life, and determine who she is, understanding that "I must love myself before I let anyone else love me" and "I am worthy of love "

Notă biografică

Ms. Gwendolen Wilder served honorably for twenty-one years in the United States Air Force (USAF) as an Equal Opportunity (EO) Director, Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) Director, Education and Training Instructor, and Logistical Readiness Officer, both in the continental U.S. and abroad. While still in the USAF, Gwendolen started her own small business, The Mediation and Equal Opportunity Resolution Center (ME Resolution Center), which provided a connection for a more positive work-life balance through investigations, mediations, counseling, coaching, and training. Gwendolen's combined military experience, educational expertise, real-life experiences, and natural counseling ability enabled her to help clients identify their challenges' "root causes," while she inspired motivation and provided resourceful tools so that they could attain their emotional, physical, and/or business goals. Gwendolen successfully retired her business in 2016 in order to focus on continuing her personal self-management, traveling, and writing books centered on domestic violence. Ms. Wilder's extensive experience in education, training, counseling, contract negotiations, settlements, and the like proved beneficial not only with managing her domestic and international customers, but her personal life as well. As the CEO of the ME Resolution Center, Ms. Wilder's patience, attentiveness, and meticulousness, combined with years of training, education, and life experiences, enabled her to develop her talent of connecting with clients in such a manner that it appeared effortless. She assisted individuals in recognizing their full potential, increasing their communication skills, and settling disagreements in contracts valued over $5 million for such well known clients as Homeland Security, the United States Secret Service, and the United States Department of Agriculture. Gwendolen is also a domestic violence survivor; she knows first-hand what it's like to experience physical, financial, psychological, and emotional abuse both in a traditional and common-law marriage; combined, they lasted off and on for twenty-one years. This is why she was so devoted to spreading knowledge and providing assistance in any way possible to help not only the victims, but their friends, family members, and workplace colleagues. More importantly, she's a divorced, successful mother of a wonderful son. In her free time, when she was not writing this book, Gwendolen volunteered at a local domestic violence shelter. There, she conducted facilitations for Child Protective Service families who were separated from their children due to substance abuse and domestic violence. Gwendolen provided group counseling for teens, parents, and shelter staff. Additionally, she provided English language lessons to international business professionals, university students, and aspiring English learners. Over the years, she attainted three educational degrees: an Associates in Social Services, an Associates in Business Management, and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Behavioral Analysis, as well as various certifications from the following distinguished institutions: Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), National Association of Mediation, Department of Defense, State Law Associations, and other institutions. During her twenty-five-year professional journey, Gwendolen has carried the titles of Applied Behavioral Analysis Tutoring Therapist, Rape Crisis Center Hotline Operator, Mediator, Mediation Trainer, Sexual Harassment Compliance Training Instructor, EO Counselor and Investigator, and Instructional Trainer, providing education in the aforementioned specialties.
