Yao Zhanhu, a Professor Level Senior Engineer and Deputy Chief Engineer of CCCC First Highway Engineering Co., Ltd., has been engaged in tunnel and underground engineering technology research for many years. He has participated in the construction of many large-diameter shield tunnels, including Nanjing Weisan Road Yangtze River Tunnel, Nanjing Heyan Road Yangtze River Tunnel, and Beijing East Sixth Ring Road Renovation Project. With rich experience in construction technology, he has won 10 provincial and ministerial scientific and technological progress awards. Additionally, he has been granted 18 invention patents and 17 utility model patents. Moreover, he has published more than 30 scientific papers and three monographs.
Zhang Yazhou, a senior engineer and Deputy Director of the Underground Space Science Research Institute of CCCC Tunnel Engineering Co., Ltd., has long been engaged in research on tunnel and underground engineering technology, and has participated in the design, construction and scientific research of many large-diameter shield tunnels, including Nanjing Weisan Road Yangtze River Tunnel, Shanghai Zhoujiazui Road Tunnel, Shanghai Zhuguang Road Tunnel, Shanghai Beiheng Passageway Tunnel and Nanjing Heyan Road Yangtze River Tunnel. He has presided over and participated in more than 10 scientific research projects, won 6 provincial and ministerial scientific and technological awards, been granted 16 invention patents and more than 10 utility model patents, and published more than 20 scientific papers.
Li Hui, a senior engineer and Chief Director of the Underground Space Science Research Institute of CCCC Tunnel Engineering Co., Ltd., has been engaged in research work of urban rail transit and large diameter shield tunnel construction technology for many years. He has successively participated in the construction of projects such as Nanjing Weisan Road Yangtze River Tunnel, Beijing Metro Line 8 and Tianjin Metro Line 11, and has been involved in more than 20 scientific research projects. He has made many innovative achievements in the fields of large diameter shield tunnel construction, rapid urban road renovation and underwater excavation. He has won 10 provincial and ministerial scientific and technological progress awards, been authorized 15 invention patents and 11 utility model patents, and published more than 10 papers and two monographs.

Based on the construction of Nanjing Weisan Road Yangtze River Tunnel, this book comprehensively introduces the new technology of large-diameter shield tunnel construction crossing circular air shafts. It focuses on four aspects: the construction technology of super-deep circular air shaft foundation pit retaining structure in the sensitive environment near the river, underwater excavation and underwater massive concrete sealing bottom construction technology, adaptive improvement of TBM and construction technology of crossing air shaft, and control technology of super-deep foundation pit stability during the process of conversion. This book combines theory with practice, and can provide reference for shield engineering construction.
