Notă biografică
Dana C. McWay, J.D., RHIA, is both a lawyer and a health information management professional. Her wide-ranging perspective is informed by training and experience in both disciplines, service as a voting member of the Institutional Review Board at Washington University Medical School, and experience converting a paper-based record management system to an electronic system. McWay previously served as Chief Deputy Clerk of Court for the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, as well as director of medical records at a large teaching hospital and for-profit substance abuse facility. Admitted to practice in both Illinois and Missouri, McWay currently serves as a Director on the Board of Directors of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). She previously served on several AHIMA committees - most recently the Professional Ethics Committee-and the Missouri Health Information Management Association, including the Legislative Committee. A respected author, she received a Triumph Award (Legacy Award) from AHIMA for her text LEGAL AND ETHICAL ASPECTS OF HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT. McWay currently serves as the Clerk of Court for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, and is one of three recipients of the Director's Award for Outstanding Leadership within the Federal Judiciary.
