English summary: What connection was there between the Italian and the European forms of Romanticism, especially as they relate to the German variety? The articles in this anthology offer a contribution to the clarification of this still inadequately researched issue. At the center of this volume stands Giacomo Leopardi, a poet and philosopher, who represented, as few others could, the complex and tense relationship between Italian modernism and European Romanticism, a relationship which is shaped by a series of more of less productive misunderstandings. As a dedicated opponent of "romantic poetry," Leopardi responded with a poetics, whose foundation was, or was to appear to be in any event, of Romantic provenance. His accusation, directed at Ludovico Di Breme, the Romantics had "de-poetized" poetry, did not end with Di Breme: He underestimated the main object of European Romanticism, which coincided which Leopardi's poetological project, namely, to re-poetize the world, that is, to "romanticize" it. In this volume, on the one hand, the by devious routes of Leopardi's reception of Romanticism is reconstruction and, on the other hand, the connections between his poetry and European, especially German, Classicism and Romanticism especially are clarified. Als dezidierter Gegner der "romantischen Poesie" setzt ihr Leopardi eine Poetik entgegen, deren Grundbausteine gleichwohl romantischer Provenienz sind oder zu sein scheinen. Sein an Ludovico Di Breme gerichteter Vorwurf, die Romantiker hatten die Poesie "entpoetisiert," geht nicht nur an Di Breme vorbei: Er verkennt das Hauptanliegen der europaischen Romantik, mit dem Leopardis poetologisches Projekt im Grunde ubereinstimmt, namlich die Welt zu repoetisieren, d. h. zu "romantisieren." Im vorliegenden Band werden zum einen die verschlungenen Wege von Leopardis Romantik-Rezeption rekonstruiert und zum anderen die Beziehungen beleuchtet, die sich zwischen seiner Dichtung und der europaischen und speziell deutschen Klassik und Romantik herstellen lassen.
