Recenzii

How can anything be so funny and so sad both at once? Every sentence is an object lesson in compression and wit.
'A searching study of innocence, and the limitations of innocence.'
Elegant, nuanced; at times almost Jamesian in its convolution and subtlety.

Textul de pe ultima copertă

Anita Brookner performs a remarkable leap of imaginative empathy in her portrayal of a man torn between the reassuring cloister of the library and the alluring but terrifying world of the senses, a world populated by women who persist in bewildering him.
