At last, Maddie will be free As a reward for getting an A in French class, Maddie's mom and dad are sending her to Paris to visit with her grandparents.
She has a great time touring the city--the parks, fountains, churches, dinosaurs, even--until meets her young cousin Pierre. Pierre is always bored and always whining, but he introduces Maddie to Abdoul, a handsome African boy who sells mechanical birds in the park.
Maddie likes Abdoul a lot, but when he mysteriously disappears her stay in Paris becomes a lot colder and sadder. She decides she has to find him before she leaves.
