Marine Geology and Geotechnology of the South China Sea and Taiwan Strait
Autor Ronald C. Chaneyen Limba Engleză Hardback – 25 noi 2020
Features:
- Examines seabed material, such as clays, calcareous, siliceous, and various other organic sediments
- Presents different potential routing strategies for sea crossings using tunnels, bridges, or a combination of both
- Provides bridge design recommendations considering aesthetics, seismic and wind issues, potential vessel collisions, and more
- Includes a historical timeline and useful maps regarding the political complexity of the area and the various territorial claims made by different nations
Marine Geology and Geotechnology of the South China Sea and Taiwan Strait serves as a valuable resource for geotechnical engineers, marine geologists, civil engineers, and professionals concerned with the region.

Notă biografică
Ronald C. Chaney, PhD, is emeritus professor of environmental resources engineering and former director of the Telonicher Marine Laboratory and head of vessel operations at Humboldt State University in Arcata, California. Previously, he was an associate professor of civil engineering and associate director of the marine geotechnical laboratory at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He earned his PhD in engineering from the University of California-Los Angeles in 1978. Dr. Chaney is a licensed civil and geotechnical engineer in California. He was the editor of the following journals: International Journal of Marine Geotechnology, Journal of Marine Georesources and Geotechnology and the American Society for Testing and Materials's Geotechnical Testing Journal. He is a fellow of both American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). He is also the co-author of the books Seafloor Processes and Geotechnology and Introduction to Environmental Geotechnology 2nd edition. Both published by CRC Press.
Descriere
This book covers oceanographic topics, and further discusses topography, sedimentation, wave generation, and hazards such as earthquakes, storm surges, and tsunamis. It also explains the engineering issues and design considerations involved regarding a potential Taiwan Strait Crossing.
