Notă biografică
Prof. U. S. Dixit is currently a professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. He has more than two decades' experience in carrying out research in the area of metal forming and machining. Apart from FEM, he uses fuzzy set theory and neural networks in his research. Before taking up a research career, he worked as a machine tool designer in HMT Ltd. Pinjore, India. Prof. Dixit obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee in 1987. He gained his M.Tech. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in 1993 and 1998, respectively.
Prof. S.K. Dwivedy is currently the Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. He completed his B.E. (Mechanical Engineering) from University College of Engineering Burla (Odisha) and M.E. (Mechanical Engineering with specializationin Machine Design and Analysis) from Regional Engineering College Rourkela (now NIT Rourkela). He completed his Ph.D. (Mechanical Engineering) from IIT Kharagpur in 1999. His research interests are in the field of nonlinear vibration, robotics and biomechanics. He has guided 6 Ph.D. students, 45 M.Tech. students and around 40 B.Tech. projects and currently 12 Ph.D. students are working under his guidance. He has published more than 150 articles in international journals, conferences and book chapters.
Textul de pe ultima copertă
This book consists of review articles by experts on recent developments in mechanical engineering sciences. The book has been composed to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. It includes articles on modern mechanical sciences subjects of advanced simulation techniques and molecular dynamics, microfluidics and microfluidic devices, energy systems, intelligent fabrication, microscale manufacturing, smart materials, computational techniques, robotics and their allied fields. It presents the upcoming and emerging areas in mechanical sciences which will help in formulation of new courses and updating existing curricula. This book will help the academicians and policy makers in the field of engineering education to chart out the desired path for the development of technical education.
