Descriere
Some forms of minority politics contribute to democratization and human rights, while other forms entrench or reproduce conflict and authoritarianism. This volume explores how ethnic politics can contribute to, or derail, democratization in the Middle East and North Africa, by examining cases including the Amazigh in North Africa, the Copts in Egypt, the Kurds in Iraq, the Palestinians in Israel, the ‘minoritarian’ regimes in Syria and Bahrain, and various ethnic minorities in Iran. This book was originally published as a special issue of Ethnic and Racial Studies.
