Movements of the British Iron and Steel Industry, 1720 to 1951.: Illinois Studies in the Social Sciences

This study was undertaken to analyse the overall and current distribution of the industry and the reasons for that distribution and to determine future changes in distribution. In tracing the distribution of the British iron and steel industry over two and a half centuries, one notes both the constant movement of the industry in response to factors affecting its location and reluctance to change location or techniques even after the advantages of change become apparent.
