Notă biografică
Rajendra Kumar Goyal is professor of metallurgy and materials science at College of Engineering, Pune (CoEP), Pune, India. He also holds position of treasure in the student co-operative society of CoEP and professional society "The Indian Institute of Metals (IIM) Pune Chapter". He received Ph.D. in Materials Science from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Mumbai, India in 2007. He has been awarded best Ph.D. thesis prize in Materials Science for the year 2007 by the Materials Research Society of India (MRSI). He obtained B.E. in Metallurgical Engineering from Malviya Regional Engineering College (now, National Institute of Technology) Jaipur, University of Rajasthan, India in 1996. He received "Alumni Distinguished Faculty Fellow (ADFF) Award" for the duration 2010-2012 and 2015-2017 from Alumni Association of College of Engineering, Pune. He has life membership of professional society "The Indian Institute of Metals (IIM)", "Powder Metallurgy Association of India (PMAI)" and "Society of Polymer Science". His research group works on polymer composites/nanocomposites, nanomaterials, characterization of materials, electronic materials, structure-properties relationship etc. He has coauthored 1 book and authored more than 130 research papers in peer reviewed journals and conferences. He organized several faculty development programs (FDP) in the area of nanomaterial and characterization. He delivered dozen of expert lectures in various conferences/FDP. He has advised more than 26 M. Tech. and one Ph. D. students at College of Engineering Pune, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune, India. His students received several awards for the work related to polymeric nanocomposites. He has served for more than 12 years in research laboratory and industries. He is a member of editorial board and reviewer of many international journals. He has successfully completed several research projects funded by national funding agencies like ISRO, UGC, AICTE, India.
Recenzii
"Nanomaterials have been "hot" for two decades and will remain so while control over synthesis, assembly, and nanocharacterization improves, deepening the understanding of nanostructure and the properties it influences. Several books on nanomaterials are published each year; readers are advised to not confuse this volume with P. M. Visakh's similarly titled Nanomaterials and Nanocomposites: Zero- to Three-Dimensional Materials and Their Composites (2016). Though both Visakh and Goyal (College of Engineering, Pune, India) devote chapters to carbon materials, preparations, and applications, several differences in content and organization differentiate the two books. Many chapters in Visakh's book describe individual polymer families (such as zeolites, silsesquioxanes, and biopolymers): this suggests a stronger chemistry focus. Goyal's approach provides several chapters describing such topics as how size affects properties of nanomaterials, nanomaterial characterization, nanomaterial synthesis (top-down versus bottom-up approaches), and nanomaterial forms, including nanowires, nanofibers, and magnetic materials. After introducing nanomaterial basics and material designs in nature, Goyal builds on these principles to introduce other forms of nanomaterials. Some content is at quite an advanced level, but the book is a pleasure to read and has much to offer to a wide readership in materials science and engineering."
