Recenzii

New Technology and Education is a renewed stimulus to consider the place of technology in education... Dr Edwards has written a lucid and engaging work which will be read and used by many but especially those in teacher education courses... His work is especially significant as he applies all the traditional academic disciplines namely history, philosophy, psychology and sociology to examine the relationship between education and technology. His overarching questions centre on whether technology in the classroom is a force for good which liberates us, whether it divides us and is it is always welcomed?... Staff and students in higher education will find something in his book which is sure to reverberate with their own experiences.
The relationships between technology, learning and contemporary educational contexts are in a state of flux. This thoughtful and intelligently crafted book from Anthony Edwards uses multiple perspectives to explore questions emerging from technology's role as a driver of educational change. I would recommend this to anyone in education who wants to keep up with the acceleration of technological change.
In a rapidly changing world, it is necessary to occasionally stop, reflect and consider where we might be going. Technology and education are so important and the pace of change in these areas is so rapid, that this a challenge. However, we must find time. This book, with its accessible but informed style will get you thinking and spark debate. Anyone with an interest in education or technology should read it.
Useful for students interested in researching the university's role globalising its offerings- both from their perspectives as student, but more importantly as their research engages contemporary, globalised pedagogic practices.
