Recenzii
Review from previous edition With obesity prevention so high on the public health and political agenda, this book is both timely and useful.
The book provides an overview of the main fields of research and population-/environment-based approaches to understand and prevent obesity. ...Students, researchers, practitioners and policy makers will profit from the 'state of the science' provided in this book.
This book provides strong evidence for the importance of preventing obesity, especially in children, and the need for an interdisciplinary approach across health professionals, from clinicians to policy makers, to control this epidemic.
The contributors painstakingly back every fact up with statistics or trials, leading to hundreds of references and a highly evidence-based read. ... if this comprehensively researched compilation of facts and literature reviews cannot precipitate action to increase availability and accessibility of inexpensive healthy food to those on low incomes then nothing will.
The authors present an excellent overview of the causes, consequences, and possible solutions to the worldwide obesity epidemic. Reading this book is the first step in confronting one of the most daunting public health problems of the 21st century.
