Recenzii
'In this well written book Craig Carr analyses the moral concept of fairness. After criticizing several alternative accounts, he defends the view that fairness is a kind of fidelity to the social practices in which one is a participant.' The Philosophical Quarterly
Descriere
This title was first published in 2000: What does it mean to "be fair"? Why should it matter, or why should one bother, to play fairly? Presenting a systematic analysis of the concept of fairness as a moral notion, this book offers answers to these and related questions. Critically examining and rejecting several familiar accounts of fairness - fairness as equality of treatment, as not taking advantage of another, as adherence to rule, and as respect for others - the author proposes an alternative account of fairness as fidelity to social practice.
