Cancer has emerged as a major cause of death in the past few years. The likelihood of getting a cardiovascular syndrome or cancer escalates with age. Simultaneously, significant advancements in cancer therapy have resulted in the increase in quality of life and an increase in the survival rate of patients. As a consequence, there are increasing numbers of patients that experience the cardiac side effects of chemotherapy. The level of cardiotoxicity is variable, depending on the kind of drug used, amalgamation with other drugs, prior mediastinal radiotherapy and the existence of cardiovascular risk factors or history of heart disorders. Early discovery of the patient's tendency to develop cardiotoxicity plays a key role in decreasing morbidity and mortality. It also facilitates more modified therapeutic strategies.
