Evidence suggests that holiday traffic injects a variety of critical concerns into a large range of traffic issues. To address such a challenge, this book makes a great effort to systematically investigate the peaking of highway traffic during various holiday periods in Canada. In addition, the implications of such holiday traffic peaking to the planning and design of various types of highways are also discussed. The whole study is very informative, and it brings many valuable insights to both researchers and practitioners. There is a lot to be gained from the findings of this study, and much more research opportunities can be stimulated. It is also important for practitioners to speak up about how to use these findings. The entire book is in well written and easy to follow.

Dr. Liu's major research interests are in areas of traffic data analysis, highway capacity, intelligent transportation systems, and traffic safety. Dr. Liu is currently an associate professor at Southeast University, China.
