Autor Jocelyne Mullis
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 2 ian 2020
Have you slipped on anything lately? Better be careful, you might end up in a retirement community! That's what happened to Amanda after she slipped on black ice. Her move to Sunny Meadow Retirement Home is smooth enough, and her life continues in a predictable pattern, but this selection of short stories shakes up the perceptions that we might have of retirees and their lives. Who knew that there are gigolos who cater to elderly ladies or that seniors enjoy a bit of intimacy in the afternoon? Romance, mystery, friendship, family, and the irritations of day-to-day life are all part of the mix at Sunny Meadow where residents have perspectives, talents, and connections that are as unique as their personalities. Under the well-intended oversight of Cedric H. Hawkins (aka The Hawk), Amanda, Grace, Olga, and the others create a unique community that illuminates the concerns and realities of aging, all presented with humour and sensitivity. Join the group and share their stories; they will touch you, surprise you, trouble you, and make you laugh-not your ordinary visit to a Retirement Home!

Notă biografică

Jocelyne Mullis has demonstrated her empathy and compassion for people throughout her nursing career in Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Having provided care for people during their illnesses, she has had ample opportunity to observe people's behaviour, sometimes at the worst times in their lives. Intimate involvements in patient's lives and frequent visits to a retirement home have honed a sensitivity and awareness of life and of its challenges. As she has stated, "Life goes on in all its aspects when you are old although the deadline is just around the corner and the challenges have increased." In addition to her nursing career, Jocelyn has acted as a food critic and editor for a gastronomy publication, and she contributed to Fragments, a French anthology. She lives with her husband on the shores of the St. Lawrence River in Quebec, Canada.
