The book aims to encourage ophthalmic surgeons to successfully treat children with cataract as all of them perform adult cataract surgeries but usually avoid managing pediatric cases. This hesitation is primarily due to exhaustive pre-operative evaluation and long term follow up. As a result the back log of this disease in the developing world is significant and many such children are unable to receive timely intervention during their crucial period of visual development. The chapters primarily focus on the clinically relevant issues to keep the reader interested. Notă biografică
Dr Siddharth Agrawal (MS, DNB) has completed his medical education from King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow, India. He has received advanced cataract training at Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai. He is presently Additional Professor in Ophthalmology and in charge of Strabismus and Pediatric Vision Clinic of the department at KGMU. He has many peer reviewed publications on the subject, is a reviewer for several international journals and has delivered lectures and conducted instruction courses at various international conferences across the globe including APAO Sydney (2011), ISO Guangzhou (2013), APGC Hong Kong (2014), WOC Tokyo (2014) & APAO Singapore (2017). He has 2 extramural research grants, has received 5 international Travel fellowships and visited SNEC (Singapore) in 2014, Weil Cornell University (New York, USA) in 2015 and Columbia University (New York, USA) in 2018 as observer in the sub-specialty. He has edited and co-authored a text book on Strabismus, hasa patent, is co in charge of the postgraduate teaching program of the department and conducts about 200 pediatric cataract surgeries each year.

The book covers all clinical aspects of pediatric cataract surgery. Chapters cover basic sciences, etiology, pre-operative evaluation, choice of intraocular lenses, steps of surgery, complications, considerations in traumatic cataract and post-operative rehabilitation.
