English summary: What is tradition? What is its significance for human life and for pluralistic societies in an unprecedented gathering of cultures? How can the Church, as a symbol of universal salvation, make its catholicity more effective? Considering all these issues in a context characterized by an epistemological pluralism of thought, language and history, this book presents the essential determinations of a historically and culturally open catholicity. The work explores the most crucial problems of fundamental contemporary theology as well as the self-understanding of the Church as a historical reality. The work also explores the specific relationships that are established between the "individual" and the "universal."
