Editat de Corrado Tamburino, Marco Barbanti, Davide Capodannoen Limba Engleză Hardback – 3 apr 2018
Transcatheter aortic valve implantation has revolutionized the field of interventional cardiology. Initially envisaged as a palliative technique for inoperable patients, it now offe
rs high-risk patients a viable alternative to surgery. Several techniques are also available of transcatheter mitral valve repair, and initial cases of transcatheter mitral valve replacement have also been reported: the interest in these techniques is such that further significant technological advances are expected to be seen over the next few years. This highly informative, easy to read, and carefully structured guide provides interventional cardiologists with updated knowledge on the application of transcatheter techniques to cardiac valves.

Recenzii
“This is an advanced level book, most suitable for those training in interventional cardiology, specifically structural heart disease. … This book has excellent diagrams, drawings, and multimodality imaging. This would be an essential book in any structural cardiologist's library.” (Arjun Makam, Doody's Book Reviews, November, 2018)
Notă biografică
Corrado Tamburino is Full Professor of Cardiology since 2002 at the University of Catania, Italy. He is the Head of the Cardio-Thoracic-Vascular Department of the “Azienda Policlinico-Vittorio Emanuele” in Catania, Italy, and the Director of the Cardiology Unit. He has introduced in Italy the treatment of severe aortic and mitral valve disease by transcatheter interventions. The course director of the PCR London Valve, Prof Tamburino is today widely recognized as one the most expert in the field of transcatheter aortic valve interventions.
Marco Barbanti is Research Associate at the University of Catania. He received his MD from the University of Catania in 2008 and completed his clinical and research fellowship in coronary and structural valve heart disease interventions at the St. Paul’s Hospital, University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. Dr Barbanti is the youngest recipient of the prestigious "Thomas J. Linnemeier Spirit of Interventional Cardiology Young Investigator Award" from the Cardiovascular Research Foundation, which has been delivered to him in 2013 for his distinguished clinical and academic achievements. Dr Barbanti has authored about 150 publications in the field of transcatheter aortic and mitral valve interventions in all first tier cardiology journals.Davide Capodanno is Associate Professor of Cardiology at the University of Catania and Interventional Cardiologist at Ferrarotto Hospital, Azienda “Policlinico-Vittorio Emanuele” in Catania, Italy. He received his MD in 2004 and PhD in 2011 from the University of Catania and completed his research fellowship at the University of Florida in Jacksonville, US. The recipient of six Investigator Awards for cardiology research, including the "Thomas J. Linnemeier Spirit of Interventional Cardiology Young Investigator Award" from the Cardiovascular Research Foundation in 2011, Prof Capodanno has authored about 300 manuscripts published in the peer-reviewed literature as well as numerous book chapters, and has delivered more than 100 invited lectures around the world.

Textul de pe ultima copertă
After the success of the first two editions, this expanded and extensively revised edition provides the interventional cardiologist with detailed, state of the art information on key techniques and approaches to percutaneous treatment of left side cardiac valve disease, keeping pace with the rapid and dynamic evolution in the discipline. Many new techniques and resources are now available, including new devices for transcatheter aortic valve implantation and new approaches to transcatheter mitral valve replacement. Numerous images will help the reader to understand the steps of each procedure and the characteristics of the different devices available. The potential complications and expected or potential morbidity from each procedure are discussed in depth, along with the best ways to manage them.
