from "Birth"
In this, his first book of poems, Alan Webster speaks with simple elegance and deep emotion about the beauties and despairs that confront us all. Writing from the everyday, he searches for that elusive "hidden word" that will lead us to a deeper understanding of the world we live in.
This book is a celebration of life, from love and concern for the land, to the joys of family and community. It is a book of rebirth and renewal, for that never-ending search to fi nd harmony with one's place on earth.
