Notă biografică
Daryl Joyce is the author of two previous books, "Crossing Over" a memoir published by Balboa Press in 2015 and "Going, Going, Gone," a crime novel set in Sydney published by Inspiring Publishers in 2016. Born in the country town of Kooweerup east of Melbourne, Daryl has previously lived in London and Ottawa, but now resides in Potts Point Sydney with his wife Philippa. The couple have one son Kristian, who lives with his family in Singapore. In previous careers, Daryl was a teacher of special education and a Sydney property agent, but now spends his time as a full time writer. His latest novel "Pointing the Bone" is a fictionalised story based on the troublesome relationship that developed after Europeans colonised Aboriginal land in Byron Bay NSW. Joyce has a strong affection for the characters he has created, especially the Indigenous women in his story who are strong role models. Joyce's insights create empathy while questioning the shared identity of 'Country'. The novel which is based on historical facts, personalises the conflict between the traditional owners, whose ancestors had lived on the land for over 65,000 years, and the predatory new colonists who aggressively commandeered their sacred sites and put up fences to shut them out.
