Professional Responsibility

Readers are first introduced to the history of legal ethics, which dates back to the time of ancient Rome. The book then discusses the American Bar Association's Model Rules of Professional Conduct. In the subsequent eight chapters students consider the rules in detail and see how they are applied in bar admission, duty of competence and malpractice, the attorney-client relationships, and the setting of fees. The text also addresses confidentiality, conflict, the duty to file in good faith, attorney advertising, and lawyer criticism of the judiciary.
