Ranald Bannerman's Boyhood

Autor George Macdonald
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 20 iul 2020
George MacDonald, one of the most influential Christian authors of the 19th century, returns with "Ranald Bannerman's Boyhood," a tale of adventurous boys and their growing pains. While George MacDonald is most celebrated for his children's fantasies and fairytales, which take inspirational Christian lessons on faith and morality and make them entertaining and easy to understand, Ranald Bannerman's Boyhood is a more realistic look at life through the eyes of a boy. Being vaguely autobiographical in nature, this coming of age story features a young, motherless boy who gets swept away in adventures, all while his father teaches him courage, strength, and honesty as Ranald grows to learn how to use the goodness in his heart. This beautiful, compelling story reminds us of what it feels like to have a kindhearted spirit and childlike wonder, something that is heavily valued in the eyes of faith. With a bright cast of characters and heartwarming scenes, Ranald Bannerman's Boyhood is not just a novel for young boys, but for anyone who wants to get lost in the nostalgia of childhood again.

Notă biografică

George MacDonald (1824 - 1905) was a Scottish author, poet and Christian minister. He was a pioneering figure in the field of fantasy literature and the mentor of fellow writer Lewis Carroll. His writings have been cited as a major literary influence by many notable authors. C. S. Lewis wrote that he regarded MacDonald as his "master": "Picking up a copy of Phantastes one day at a train-station bookstall, I began to read. A few hours later," said Lewis, "I knew that I had crossed a great frontier." G. K. Chesterton cited The Princess and the Goblin as a book that had "made a difference to my whole existence".
