Ibrahim Garbie is currently a Professor of Industrial Engineering within the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Helwan University in Egypt. Dr. Garbie received his Ph.D in Industrial Engineering from University of Houston, Texas, USA in 2003. He also received his M.Sc. in Manufacturing Engineering and B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Production from Helwan University in Egypt in 1996 and 1991, respectively. He has been a visiting professor in several universities and participated in several national/international educational development programs in many capacities such as a consultant and research investigator. His research interests encompass Industry 4.0 and Smart Manufacturing systems, Reconfiguration and Sustainability of Manufacturing Enterprises, Manufacturing Processes and Economics, Manufacturing/Production Systems Analysis and Design, Lean Production, Agile Systems, and Engineering Education. He has authored more than 82 articles in well-regarded international peer reviewed archival journals, conferences, technical reports, and book chapters. Dr. Garbie has been a frequent speaker at international conferences with more than 50 papers to his credit and a frequent reviewer in several International Journals and Conferences. In addition, he is member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of manufacturing Technology Management, and International Journal of Information and Operations Management Education. His most recent authored book, Sustainability in Manufacturing Enterprises, has been published by Springer in 2016. Dr. Garbie is a Senior Member of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) and several others
Hamid R. Parsaei, P.E. is a professor with the Wm Michael Barnes’64 Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering. He is an internationally recognized leader in the field of manufacturing systems design, engineering education, economic decision making, project management, and leadership with more than three decades of experience in academia. He is a fellow of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE), American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), and Industrial Engineering and Operations Management Society International (IEOM). Dr. Parsaei’s leadership experience and accomplishments include serving as Professor and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Director of Accreditation, and STEM Education at Texas A&M University at Qatar (TAMUQ). Prior to joining Texas A&M University, Dr. Parsaei served as Professor and Chair of the Department of Industrial Engineering at University of Houston for 10 years.
Dr. Parsaei has been principal and co-principal investigator on projects funded by NSF, Qatar Foundation, the US Department of Homeland Security, Texas Department of Transportation, Houston Transtar, the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the National Institute of Safety and Health, among others, with total funding in excess of $24 million. He has authored or co-authored 29 text archival books and over 330 refereed publications that appear in archival journals and conference proceedings. Dr. Parsaei is registered professional engineer in Texas.
