Schiller: Die Rauber: German Texts

Autor Friedrich Schiller F.J. Lamport
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 31 dec 1997
Friedrich Schiller (1759-1805) was one of the twin pillars of German Classicism and arguably Germany's greatest dramatist.Die Räuber, Schiller's first play, was the last major document of the German Sturm und Drang era. It's revolutionary spirit found an amazing European echo and, for all the violence and crudity and general extravagance which the work contains it has remained popular with audiences up the present day. Schiller toned down the original version and the resultant Trauserspiel was the form in which Die Räuber was presented in the famous Blackwell edition of Magill and Willoughby. This completely new edition reproduces the original unexpurgated Schausepiel and provides and introduction with notes fully geared to the needs of the modern student.
