Notă biografică

Dr. Mohammad M. Banat obtained his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Ottawa, Canada, in 1995. Since 1995 he has been with the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), where he is currently an associate professor. During his career at JUST, Dr. Banat has taught several courses in communications and signal processing. He has supervised over 25 master students in wireless and optical fiber communications. Between September and December 2005 Dr. Banat was an Erasmus Mundus visiting professor at the Department of Signal Theory and Communications of the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) in Barcelona, Spain. In 2008, he worked as a visiting research professor at the Department of Communications and Networking at Helsinki University of Technology (TKK) in Finland. In 2009, Dr. Banat was a visiting research associate at the Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain. In 2012, Dr. Banat was an invited professor at the Department of Signal Theory and Communications of the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) in Barcelona, Spain. Dr. Banat has been involved in several international cooperation programs, including a TEMPUS project in wireless communications, a Swedish government project in MIMO wireless communication systems, and an NSF project in WDM optical networks. He is a reviewer for several leading (mainly IEEE and IET) publications. He is also a reviewer and TPC member of several leading international conferences. He is the general chairman of high-profile international conferences organized by Mosharaka for Researches and Studies. Dr. Banat is the founder of the Wireless Communications Laboratory at JUST.
 
Sara Paiva is an Associate Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, a PhD in Informatics Engineering from University of Vigo and a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Oviedo since January2018, under advanced driving assistants and urban mobility. Sara Paiva coordinates ARC4DigiT, the Applied Research Center for Digital Transformation, created in january 2018 and currently under approval of the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology. Her main line of research is mobility and mobile/IoT solutions applied to the promotion of social inclusion, and mobiliy solutions in urban environments. She is frequent book editor of Springer and IGI books, has more than 30 publications in international journals and conferences, is a frequent reviewer of journals and international conferences and has oriented several final projects of Bachelor and Master in her main line of work. She is the Chair of the 1st International Conference on Smart Cities and Smart Technologies (MIC-Smart 2019).
