Caracteristici

Smouldering Charcoal was first published in 1992. Although the villain is named 'The Leader' in the novel, he is based off Malawi's Prime Minister and President, Hastings Banda, who ruled from 1964 to 1994. When the book was completed, Zeleza was threatened with a visit from the Special Branch - Banda's feared department of secret police. This delayed publication for over a decade.
