Notă biografică
T.R.H. DAVENPORT was Reader, Professor and then Head of Department of History at Rhodes University in Grahamstown until his retirement in 1990. He was previously Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in History at the University of Cape Town. He is the author of The Afrikaner Bond: the History of a South African Political Party, and contributor to the Oxford History of South Africa and to a variety of professional journals.
CHRISTOPHER SAUNDERS is Associate Professor in the History Department at the University of Cape Town. He is the author of numerous books and articles on aspects of South African history, including The Making of South Africa (1988), A Historical Dictionary of South Africa (1983 , new ed. 1999) and many articles in the South African History Journal.
