Alien abduction, time travel, and the paranormal create the possibility for unjust events to be corrected and murders avenged, and even reversed. On a warm August night seven twelve to fourteen year old children play a mischievous game of Starlight, Star Bright under a neighborhood streetlight. The object of the game is to pretend to beat up one their own to see if they can get a car to stop. To actually harm, and especially kill, is not intended to be part of the game, but disturbed Virgil Corn stabs and kills nice normal Terry Waters. Moments later the children are abducted. Upon their return, there is no memory of the abduction or murder by anyone except Virgil Corn. While the others scatter from the scene, unaware that Virgil and Terry are no longer with them, Virgil drags Terry across Norsog's field, adjacent to the murder scene, and buries him next to one of farmer Norsog's sheds. Nora Carlson, the mother of three of the children; Nate, Clarence (a.k.a. Jett), and Rick, witness Virgil's actions and confront him. Virgil threatens to implicate Nora's sons in the murder and reveal Nora's extramarital affair With Emil Norsog. Believing the knowledge of her affair would destroy her children, both she and Emil swear to keep Virgil's actions a secret. Tara Montgomery, one of the children from the starlight, star bright game, now an attractive adult woman, does a sexual ritual from a text called The Compleat Witch to entice her disinterested husband, Garret, who also as a child participated in the starlight, star bright game. He hurtfully rejects her and storms out of the house to see his lover, Loraine Kapp. Tara performs another ritual to take out her frustrations on her husband and he disappears. Emil Norsog dies and his diary is discovered revealing where Terry Waters is buried. The discovery of Terry Waters' and the disappearance of Garret Montgomery reintroduce the event of the alien abduction, and Detectives Stevenson and Tuff find themselves looped back in time to the murder of Terry Waters multiple times with a different outcome each time, as they attempt to figure out why they continue to relive this event.
