Notă biografică
Snehendu Kar, Dr.O.H., received his M.Sc. in Psychology in 1958 from the University of Calcutta, India, and his Dr.P.H. in Public Health and Behavioral Sciences from the University of California at Berkeley. His professional and research interests include acculturation and health, health communication in multicultural communities, and empowerment and health education. Dr. Kar is currently at UCLA as Professor of Community Health Sciences, Director of the MPH Program for Health Professionals (MPHHP) in Health Promotion and Health Education, and Co-Director of Public Health Practice.

Analyses the: meaning and dynamics of multiculturalism affecting prevention intervention, relative risks and knowledge gaps across ethnic groups, social trends affecting health risks and substance abuse, lessons learned from substance abuse research and prevention, role of the media, and promises and limits of the public health paradigm.
