Notă biografică

Dr. Karan Gulati is a group leader at the School of Dentistry, The University of Queensland, Australia. His research group, GATORs (Group for Anodized Therapies for Osseointegration, Regeneration and Stimulation), aims to revolutionize dental implant technology by creating the next generation of implants capable of providing maximum local therapeutic action with selective bioactivity to drastically reduce implant failures. Dr. Gulati is supported by reputed research fellowships from NHMRC (National Health and Medical Research Council, Australia), JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Japan), and the University of Queensland (Australia). His research focuses on nano-engineered therapeutic titanium dental implants for enhanced soft- and hard-tissue integration and antibacterial functions. Before his current appointment at UQ, Dr. Gulati worked at the School of Dentistry and Oral Health, Griffith University, as a Research Fellow (2016-17), working in the area ofnano-engineered dental implants. He completed his Ph.D. in the domain of Nano-Engineered Bone Implants from the University of Adelaide in 2015 and was awarded the Dean’s Commendation for Doctoral Thesis Excellence. Dr. Gulati has over 12 years of research experience working with nano-engineered metal-based implants, implant nano-engineering, local drug delivery, bone/dental implants, and therapeutic/bioactive implant surface modification. Dr. Gulati has edited two books, published over 60 peer-reviewed journal articles and eight peer-reviewed conference publications, and presented over 90 times at national and international conferences.
