Taking Control

Autor Anthea Lawrence
en Limba Engleză Paperback
This is a basic gundog training manual aimed at those who wish to train a gundog themselves. It is for people of all levels of ability from those who have never trained a dog before to those who have trained dogs in the past, perhaps using different methods. The manual tells not only what needs to be taught but gives detailed descriptions of how this can be done as well as why various aspects should be incorporated into the teaching programme. It lists numerous problems encountered by those engaged in the task as well as solutions to these problems. The methods used are reward based, using praise, and unlike the majority of similar training books, this book is designed specifically to help with the training started at around 10 to 12 weeks of age. It is a suitable foundation course for those who aspire to competitive gundog events such as Field Trials and Gundog Working Tests; for show bred dogs whose owners with to attempt a Show Gundog Working Certificate (SGWC); for working dogs and their owners wishing to participate in the Kennel Club Working Gundog Certificate (WGC); and for anyone who owns a gundog breed of puppy wishing to develop the potential or to help give the puppy a more fulfilled and interesting life through channelling the dog's natural abilities in a constructive way.
