Recenzii
"This volume is a unique and thoughtful work that provides the reader with an engaging overview of the differing perspectives that sex therapy supervisors offer to the clinicians they train. The variety of supervision styles and topics discussed include, among others, individual, group, systems, video, live real time with one-way mirror, distance/remote supervision, and forensic sexology. Importantly, this book, with its case studies and emphasis on self-reflection, countertransference and creating a safe space for non-judgmental inquiry, will demystify the supervision process for sex therapy supervisees and supervisors alike."
Michael A. Perelman, PhD, Co-Director, Human Sexuality Program, Clinical Professor, Emeritus of Psychiatry, Reproductive Medicine & Urology, Weill Cornell Medicine, Founder & Chairman, Map Education & Research Foundation
"In The Art of Sex Therapy, Dr. James Wadley, co-author and co-editor, says ‘The future of sex therapy supervision will push supervisors and supervisees to think differently about how best to engage with one another and with clients to address difficult issues.’ This book is a long-needed and valuable resource which does just that."
Gretchen Fincke, LCSW, certified sex therapist, AASECT-certified supervisor
"The Art of Sex Therapy Supervision, is the first of its kind. Finally, we have a book on supervision for sex therapy; Wadley and Siegel got this right. The chapters are well defined, explored, and followed with case samples and interventions. This is a true guide for sex therapy supervisors and general supervisors working with sexuality issues. This book will land both in the universities and on the shelves of most sex therapists and supervisors."
Sally Valentine, PhD, LCSW, CSTS, AASECT Chair, Certification Steering Committee
"In The Art of Sex Therapy Supervision, editors James C. Wadley and Richard Siegel and an array of highly qualified supervisors have done a magnificent job of covering the complex field of sex therapy supervision—from individual, couples, and group, to live in-process supervision, to supervising work with specific communities like conservative Christians or transgender clients. Reading the variety of different approaches is inspiring. I wholeheartedly recommend this informative book as one that will surprise and delight the professional reader and broaden your perspective on the variety of possibilities for dynamic sex therapy supervision."
Stella Resnick, PhD, clinical psychologist, author of Body-to-Body Intimacy: Transformation through Love, Sex and Neurobiology, AASECT-certified sex therapist and supervisor
"The Art of Sex Therapy Supervision fills an educational and training void for a comprehensive collection of writings designed to inform competent practitioners and students about sexuality supervision. Numerous sexuality topics from various perspectives offer instructions in providing supervisees and supervisors with critical feedback about issues such as countertransference, Christians, couples, transgender clients, etc. Content is designed to enhance professional identity, skill development, evaluation, and standards of care in sexuality supervision."
