Helen Nicolay was the daughter of John Nicolay. John was the secretary to President Abraham Lincoln and along with Hay wrote an extensive biography of Lincoln. Nicolay has written an excellent biography for younger readers. She uses language easy for her reader to understand and at the same time she does not talk down to them. This is an excellent choice for any student studying American History.
